Senior Championship: Hard luck to our senior team who exited the senior championship despite their 1-18 to 2-12 victory over St. Brigid’s, Killashee on Saturday evening last. We finished the group on 5 points along with Ballymahon. However, their superior scoring difference of +13 was greater than our scoring difference of +8. We now find ourselves in the unfortunate position of a relegation play off despite having won 2 matches and drawn another. The team and scorers were as follows:

The Marquee in Drumlish – August 18th to 21st We are all ready go for this year’s Marquee In Drumlish Festival which starts this Friday night the 18th until Monday the 21st. A massive thank you to all those who have prepared the site during the week at the Old School in advance of the Festival. This is a weekend not to be missed, with something for everyone to enjoy over the course of the 4 days. On Friday night we have Seán Rooney, State Lights, Chasing Abbey and DJ Fergal D’Arcy. On Saturday night we have Robert Mizzell and Derek Ryan. On Sunday, Small Time Thieves (aka Top Shelf), The Blizzards and The Aftermath/Cronin will entertain everyone for the night and on Monday it is the Declan Nerney night with special guests Big Tom, Una Healy, Jimmy Buckley, Mick Flavin, Dominic/Barry Kirwan, John McNicholl, Philomena Begley and Trudi Lawlor. Annual Monster Bingo: The Annual Monster Bingo in conjuction with the Marquee in Drumlish will take place on Sunday, August 20th in the ’98 Memorial Hall Ballinamuck at 3pm. There will be prize money of €2,500 plus a Monster Raffle on the day. All proceeds will be donated to County Longford Hospice Homecare. This service provides excellent, professional care to clients and ensures that they can be cared for with dignity and respect in their own homes. It also provides support to families that require this Hospice Homecare service. Please support this worthy cause as it can make a real difference to the lives of hospice patients in Co Longford. Please come out on the day or give a donation/raffle prize to any of the Marquee bingo committee.

ACFL Division 3: It was a busy week for our juniors with two matches in the space of 5 days. Unfortunately we came out on the losing side in both encounters. The first match was against Killoe on Wednesday evening last and we were comprehensively beaten by a much better side on a score line of 5-9 to 0-7. The team and scorers were as follows:

Marquee in Drumlish – Volunteer Night: We are holding a volunteer registration night this Friday night, August 4th between 8.30 and 9.30pm in Monaduff for anyone who can help steward or work behind the bar at the Marquee.
Referee Debut: Well done to clubman Kenneth Leonard who refereed his first senior championship game at the weekend. Ken took charge of the Colmcille and Granard encounter and we wish him all the best in his refereeing career.
Killoe v Longford Slashers: We held our first senior championship match on Sunday last as Killoe and Longford Slashers faced off in the second round. A massive thank you to all our volunteers who stewarded, parked cars, directed traffic and sold lotto envelopes at half time. Thanks also to Thomas Gill and his team who had Monaduff looking so well.
Water Safety & Awareness Information Evening: Annagh Sports & Lesiure Group & Longford Sub Aqua in conjunction with Dromard Healthy Club and the RNLI ( the charity that saves lives at sea) will host an information evening on Water Safety and Awareness for our community this Thursday 3rd August at 8.15pm at the Dromard GAA clubhouse. This event is open to all the community both young and old particularly parents and teenagers. A guest speakers from the RNLI will give a presentation on the current campaign they are running which is “Respect The Water” and the speakers from Longford Sub Aqua will talk about their role in the community and the basic water safety skills each of us need to call on if you find yourself in difficulty in the water.
