ACFL Division 2

As a result of Kenagh conceding to Seán Connolly’s our senior team’s season has come to an end. It is a disappointing way in which to finish the year but we would like to thank the management team of Jack Lynn, Dessie Connell, Graham Lee and Niall Mulleady and the panel of players for their hard work and dedication all year.

ACFL Division 4

We received the points from Mullinalaghta last Sunday in the second last round of the Reserve League. Our final fixture is against Ardagh/Moydow. This has yet to be fixed.

Sympathy

The club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of club great Mickey Bissett in Dublin at the weekend. Mickey was a dashing forward for St. Mel’s, Longford and the club in the 1950s and 1960s. The club also extends its sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Kathleen Sweeney (née Farrell), Brocklagh who passed away recently. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.

Coronavirus (Covid-19)

A reminder that the club has offered to help collect the shopping/groceries/medication for the elderly and vulnerable in our parish. If you need this assistance or know of someone who does, please contact our secretary Lorraine Corrigan on 0864017301. Our team of volunteers are ready to help. We welcome the release of the GAA’s roadmap for the return to play. This starts with the opening of club pitches from the 29th of June for non-contact training for groups of 10. Full contact training can commence from July 20th with competitions starting from July 31st.

Old Photos

With a lack of action on the playing fields we are trying to collect as many old football related photographs to share them with our supporters. If you have any Gaels related pictures, be they action shots, team photos, trips away, old trophies/medals etc. please scan them and email to pauricgill@gmail.com or direct message to the Gaels Facebook page
