A reminder that the club has offered to help collect the shopping/groceries/medication for the elderly and vulnerable in our parish. If you need this assistance or know of someone who does, please contact our secretary Lorraine Corrigan on 0864017301. Our team of volunteers are ready to help.

Old Photos

With a lack of action on the playing fields we are trying to collect as many old football related photographs to share them with our supporters. Irish Independent

It was great to see 3 clubmen make Martin Breheny’s top 10 Longford players of the last 50 years in the Independent recently. Frank McNamee at no.9, Padraic Davis at no.7 and Jimmy Hannify at no.2. Nice bit of recognition for stellar careers at club and county

Congratulations to senior player Liam Lynch and his wife Breda on the birth of their daughter Faye at the weekend

Sympathy

The club extends sympathy to Marlene McWade and relatives on the passing of Stephen Thornton. We also extend our condolences to the family and friends of Michael Sonny McKeon (Clonaugh) who passed away recently. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.

Latest News – 05-07-2020

Division 2 League and Junior Championship Draws

 

The draw for the Division 2 League was made last weekend. The league has been split into two groups with the top 2 in each to play off for the league cup. There is no promotion or relegation. We have been drawn in the group with St. Brigid’s Killashee, Cashel, Seán Connolly’s and Kenagh. Our first round is at home to Killashee on July 27th. We have been drawn in a group with Longford Slashers and St. Mary’s, Granard in the Junior championship. Dates and venues are to be confirmed.

Return to play

It was great to see the senior team back in action last Sunday against our near neighbours Arva, in our first match since restrictions were lifted. We thank Arva for a good, sporting game and wish them the best of luck for the forthcoming year. Thank you to Jimmy McCormack for reffing the match.

Sympathy

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Jason Donohoe (Drumlish Hill) who passed away last week. Solas na bhFlaitheas air.

Lotto

The Lotto draw was held last Monday, December 30th in Dillon’s Bar & Restaurant, Ballinamuck. The Jackpot was €2,000. The numbers drawn were as follows:

Dinner Dance

The Dinner Dance takes place in Lough Rynn Hotel on Saturday January 18th, with presentation of medals to the Intermediate Team and presentations to St Vincent’s and St Helen’s Players. There is also a special presentation to honour the 45th anniversary of the 1975 Intermediate championship winning team. A very special guest will be in attendance to make the presentations. A great night is in store. Tickets cost €35 and are now on sale until Wednesday 15th of January and can be purchased from Betty Creegan, Seamus Gallagher, or Lorraine Corrigan. Dinner will be served at 8pm followed with music by Nite Fever. No tickets will be sold on the night

 

National Club Draw

The National Club Draw tickets are back on sale again this year and this great initiative by the GAA has helped contribute vital funds to our club for the past number of years. Individual prizes include: A brand new Renault Clio; a €2,000 travel voucher; All Ireland Hurling & Football packages; various shopping vouchers and many more. Details of each prize available are on each ticket. Tickets cost €10 and can be bought from any member of the Gaels squad. As always, your support is greatly appreciated.

 

Longford

Best of luck to Paddy Collum and the Longford team and management in the O’Byrne Cup semi final against Dublin this Saturday.

 

Club Membership

Club Membership for the forthcoming year is now available. The cost is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Membership is required for all playing members and for use of the gym. Membership entitles you to attend monthly club meetings and if received before March 31st, entitles you to a vote at next year’s AGM and entry into the draw for All Ireland tickets.
