Minor News – 11-03-2018

MONSTER BINGO: St Vincents Minor Club are holding their 8th Annual Bingo Fundraiser on Sunday 25th March 2018 @ 3pm,  in the ’98 Memorial Hall, Ballinamuck.  €2,500 to be won in prize money and Easter Eggs to be won on every page.  There will also be a monster raffle on the day.  As the Minor Club caters for Nursery Children up to age 17/18 years of age support from our players Parents, Families & Friends is important and appreciated.

St Vincents Minor Football Club: U13 Leinster League – U13s played Athlone in their Final Game of the Leinster League on Saturday, the result didn’t go our way but well done & thank you to Players & Coaches.
St Vincents Minor Football Club: U16s had their First Round of their League against Dromard Sunday and although we lost by 7 points it was a very good performance from all Players.  Thanks to Players & Coaches.

Scór Sinsear: Hard luck to Shane Hagan who narrowly missed out on victory in the Senior Scór Solo Singing Leinster final after a terrific performance in The Downs on Sunday last. Thank you to Shane for the great effort he put in and we have no doubt he will have Leinster success in the near future.

Lotto: The Lotto draw was held last Monday, March 5th  in O’Reilly’s Bar, Drumlish. The Jackpot was €10,000. The numbers drawn were as follows:

U20 Championship: We received a walkover from Ballymahon/Forgney Gaels in the first round of the championship on Saturday last. The next round is away to Rathcline/Grattan Óg in Dunbeggan on Bank Holiday Monday, March 19th at 2pm. Best of luck to the team and management.

Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the Longford squad on battling back to earn a draw against Sligo last Sunday. Best of luck to the lads in their home fixture against neighbours Westmeath next Sunday.

Cúl Camps: A reminder to parents that the GAA Cúl Camps are back in Monaduff this year from August 6th until the 10th. Cost is €50 for the first child and €40 for each child thereafter. This represents terrific value considering the expert coaching each child receives as well as gear and the opportunity to meet an intercounty star. Booking can be done online.

GAA National Club Draw: The GAA National Club Draw was held on Thursday last in Croke Park. On account of having sold over 200 tickets the club was entered into a Longford specific draw and we were the lucky winners of €1,000. A massive thank you to all who sold tickets who helped make this happen.

Club Membership: Money for club membership is now due from all players and anyone who wish to become a member of Fr Manning Gaels for 2018. Membership is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Players who do not pay their membership fee will not be covered by club insurance should injury arise. Only those who have paid membership will be eligible to represent the club in the upcoming season. Membership entitles entry in draw for All-Ireland football and hurling tickets in August. Those who pay membership by March 31st ’18 will also be eligible to vote at next years AGM.

Membership to be paid to Bridie Reilly, Club Registrar (0863332863) or any member of the executive as soon as possible please.

45th Annual Social: The 45th Fr. Manning Gaels and St. Helen’s Annual Social takes place this Saturday, February 17th in Dillon’s Bar and Bistro, Ballinamuck. There will be food and music on the night and tickets are on sale from Betty Creegan for €10. Music is by Colm Cahill. Both clubs will be making their annual award presentations and a great night’s food and entertainment is guaranteed.

Longford Seniors: Hard luck to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the Longford squad on their narrow, one point defeat to Armagh in the Athletic Grounds at the weekend.

Social Media Initiative: Longford County Board are running a pilot scheme in conjuction with CyberIreland on social media. This initative is to raise awareness of the dangers of social media with our 12 to 16 year olds and safety measures that can be put in place to make phones more secure for children. Foundation Coaching Award/Code of Ethics: Foundation Award in Mercy Convent Ballymahon Monday 19th & 26th of February from 6:45pm – 10pm (both nights must be attended) – Cost €10.

*Anyone doing the Foundation Award must also complete the Code of Ethics Course. Code of Ethics in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Thursday 15th of February from 6:45pm – 10pm – Cost €10. Places on both courses are limited and only available by booking and making payment in advance with credit/debit card by calling the office on 043 3345219 (office open Mon – Fri 10am – 5:30pm). Participants wanting to do either or both courses must be 18 years old at the time of the course.

Bertie Allen Cup: The draw for the Bertie Allen Cup was made recently and we are away to Ballymahon in the first round on Saturday, March 3rd at 5pm. Clonguish, Mostrim, Granard and Dromard are also in our group.

Junior Reserve League – Padraic Gearty Cup: We are away to Legan Sarsfields in the first round of the Padraic Gearty Cup on Saturday, March 3rd at 5pm. Dromard, Kenagh, Seán Connolly’s and Ardagh/Moydow are also in our group

U20 Championship: The new U20 championship starts on Sunday, March 11th when we face Ballymahon/Forgney Gaels in Monaduff at 2pm. Abbeylara/Mullinalaghta and Grattan Óg/Rathcline amalgamations make up the rest of the group

Monster Bingo – Save the date – Sunday 25th March 2018 at 3pm – – we are holding our Monster Bingo in the ’98 Hall in Ballinamuck, Longford.
St Vincent’s Nursery: In order to prepare for this years “GAA FunDo Have a Ball Nursery”, St Vincents are now looking for helpers and volunteers to help run it. Last year was the first year it was established and it proved to be a great success. The nursery gives children ages 4 to 6 an opportunity to be introduced to sport in a friendly, fun and safe environment not just concentrating on GAA skills but also fundamental skills known as the ABC,s – Agility, Balance and Coordination. This year, the nursery will be open for boys and girls born in 2012 and 2013.
