Patsy Reilly Cup Final

On Friday night last we were defeated in the Patsy Reilly Cup final by Kenagh on a score-line of 2-11 to 1-5 in Cashel. We started brightly and led early on, 1-2 to 0-1 after Cian Cassidy scored a well-taken goal after being put through by Conor Keenan. The momentum of the game changed midway through the first half when Kenagh ran through for a goal in a play which resulted in Cian Brady being dismissed and his presence was sorely missed in the backline. Subs: Sean McKenna for Cian Murphy (inj), Liam Lynch (0-1, 1m), Kevin Whelan, Orrin Greene, Kevin Whitney. Speedy recovery to Cian Murphy who suffered a very heavy collision in the first half. After the match Fintan and Mick stepped down from their management roles and the club would like to sincerely thank them for all their efforts over the last two years and wish them the best of luck for the future. The season is now over and the club would also like to thank the panel of players, selector Graham Lee, Paul Dowler, Gareth Donnelly, Bridie Reilly, Ryan Francis S&C, Elaine McKeon physio, Lorraine and Von, Mike and anyone else who helped out in any way this year.

Junior ‘B’ Final

Hard luck to our Junior ‘B’ team who lost the championship final to Abbeylara last Saturday on a score-line of 4-7 to 2-5. We started the brightest when Padraig O’Neill palmed in an early goal, but Abbeylara took over after that to lead 2-4 to 1-3 at half time. The introduction of Darren Farley and Podge Gill rallied the Gaels in the second half and a well-placed Gearoid Nertney goal reduced the deficit to two points midway through the second half. However, Abbeylara soon responded with a third goal to put an end to the comeback and ran out deserving winners. Thank you to manager Graham Lee and selectors Paddy Collum, Stephen Cosgrave, Darren Smith and Paul Dowler and the group of players for their efforts all year. The team and scorers were as follows: Cody Lee, Sean McKenna, Mike Kiernan, Micheal Kane, Tom McGee, Declan Donnelly, Nathan Maher, Aaron Crowe, Kevin Whitney, Petie Collum (0-2, 2f), Eoin Keane (0-1, 1f), Rokus Stoskus (0-1), Gearoid Nertney (1-0), James McCann, Padraig O’Neill (1-0).
