Lotto – 21-02-2017 – No Winner – Jackpot €5000

The Lotto draw was held last Monday February 20thin the Porter House, Drumlish. The Jackpot was €4,800. The numbers drawn were as follows: 03, 08, 13, 30 There was no Jackpot winner. Five €30 winners:

Latest News – 20-02-2017

Club Membership: Money for club registration is now due from all players and anyone else who wishes to become a member of Fr. Manning Gaels for 2017. Membership is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Players who do not pay their membership fee will not be covered by club insurance should injury arise. Only those who have paid membership will be eligible to represent the club in the upcoming season. Membership entitles entry in the draw for All-Ireland football and hurling tickets in August. Those who pay membership by March 31st will also be eligible to vote at next year’s AGM. Membership to be paid to Bridie Reilly, Club Registrar (0863332863) or any member of the executive as soon as possible.

Lotto: The lotto draw will take place in the Porter House Drumlish on Monday February 20th and the Jackpot is €4800. Results will be available on the club website when available and will be in next week’s notes. Tickets are available from the usual outlets and also from any member of the club executive.

Senior Challenge: The seniors had their first workout of the year on Sunday morning in Monaduff against Redhills of Cavan. The Gaels won out in the end on a score line of 3-8 to 1-11. The team and scorers were as follows: David Collum, Daniel Gorman, Cian Brady, Aaron McGee, Stephen Cosgrave, Mark Hughes, Nigel Kiernan, Anthony Kane, Eoin Keane (1-2), Tom McGee, Dean Cosgrave (1-1), Kevin Whitney, Petie Collum (0-2), Martin Cassidy, Pauric Gill (0-3).

Substitutions: Diarmuid Cooney (1-0), Darren Smith, Ryan McGee.

Thank you to Redhills for coming down and providing the challenge. We wish them the best of luck for the coming year. Thanks also to Lorraine Corrigan for the refreshments afterwards. Training continues as normal this week.

Longford Sports and Leisure Centre Deal: Longford Sports and Leisure Centre are having a one day sale on 24th Feb 2017 for all GAA clubs and their members, players and associates in Co. Longford. The offer is 6 months gym and pool for €150. This membership normally costs €240.

Monthly Meeting: February’s executive meeting will be held this Thursday evening the 23 rd in Monaduff at 9pm.

Longford Seniors: Best of luck to Paddy Collum and the Longford squad this Sunday as they face Armagh in the 3rd round of the National League. Throw in is at 2pm in Pearse Park.

Sympathy: The club expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Josephine Duffy (née Devaney) and Matthew McAuley who both passed away recently. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.

Latest News – 13-02-2017

Referee Recruitment 2017: There is a foundation course in refereeing starting Monday, February 20th and will continue each Monday for four weeks. If you are interested in becoming a referee, please contact Lorraine Corrigan by Wednesday, February 15th at the latest.

Club Membership: Club membership is now available for the coming year. The fee is €30 for Adults and €15 for Students. Please contact Registrar Bridie Reilly if you would like to become a member.

Senior Scór: Longford Senior Scór takes place on Saturday February 18th at 7.30pm in Ardagh. Please note the change of venue, it was initially scheduled for Ennybegs. If anyone is interested in competing please contact Lorraine Corrigan or any member of the executive.

Longford Seniors: Hard luck to Paddy Collum and the Longford seniors on their slender defeat to Louth on Sunday last in the National League.

Latest News – 06-02-2017

Annual Club Social: The Fr. Manning Gaels and St. Helen’s Annual Social was held last Saturday in the Olde Village Inn, Drumlish. A great night was had by all and we would like to thank MC Brendan Corrigan, Frank Feery for the excellent entertainment, Tom Cassidy and staff for their hospitality and Dial a Chef who provided the meals. On the night the senior team collected their Division 2 and Patsy Reilly Cup medals; David Collum received the Eamon Kerrigan Perpetual Trophy for senior player of the year; Dean Cosgrave received the Jimmy Tully Memorial Trophy for U21 player of the year and Lorraine Corrigan received the John Joe Brady Memorial Trophy for Club Person of the year. Mark Hughes received the St. Vincent’s minor player of the year and a special award was given to Eamon Hughes for his many years of hard work for the minor club. St. Helen’s made a special presentation to Sinéad Corrigan, Sinéad Hughes, Laura Burke and Orla Noonan as a result of winning the All Ireland Junior championship with Longford in 2016. Leah Donnelly received senior player of the year; Aoife Donnelly received underage player of the year and Amanda O’Hara received the most improved player award. Well done to all concerned. A special word of thanks to Longford County Board Chairperson Eamon Reilly and Vice Chairperson Bríd McGoldrick for making the presentations, it was greatly appreciated.

Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum and the Longford seniors on their winning start to the National League last Sunday after a great win over Offaly. We wish the squad the very best of luck against Louth in the next round.

GAA Gaeltacht Grant: Forms are now available for 2017 from the Longford GAA website or by contacting Lorraine Corrigan. Applicants must be 13 years or older on January 1st 2017.

National Club Draw: The club is participating in this year’s National GAA Club Draw. Tickets cost €10 and are available from any member of the senior team or executive. There are some fantastic prizes on offer such as the top prize, a brand new Opel Corsa. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Sympathy is extended to Mary  Mimnagh (Cloonaugh) on the death of her mother Ellen Reilly in Abbeylara and also to Frances Courtney (Cloonaugh) on the death of her brother Bernard Durnin in the UK.
