SafeTALK is a 3½ hour ‘suicide alertness’ programme that prepares participants to identify and engage with persons who may be having thoughts of suicide. Please note that the SafeTALK programme can be delivered upon request to groups within Longford/Westmeath.
GAA Goalkeeping Workshop: Shane McCormack, a former Kildare goalkeeper, is running a Goalkeeping specific workshop for club coaches. The program is designed to develop goalkeepers on all aspects of their game, not only technically and physically but also mentally.
These specifically designed sessions incorporate everything the modern day keeper is required and expected to deliver. From shot stopping to distribution, all aspects are focused on to ensure an all-round player development is achieved. Mentors are then encouraged to take the session content and implement those drills with their goalkeepers for future development. If anyone is interested in further details please contact Lorraine at secretary.frmanninggaels.longford@gaa.ie

Noel Cassidy – A Tribute: There was widespread sadness, shock and disbelief when last week we learned of the untimely passing of Noel Cassidy. Noel, as we all know, was a very talented musician and singer, known across Ireland and further afield. Apart from his musical talent, his wit and storytelling ability was legendary. He was also a former player with the club and played for us in attack, defence and the goals. He had been one of our most loyal supporters all his life and played for us at numerous fundraisers, including the Marquee in Drumlish, over the years. He was the proud father of David, Paul, Martin and Cian who have all worn the maroon and gold of St. Vincent’s and Fr. Manning Gaels with distinction. He will be sorely missed by all in Drumlish and Ballinamuck. We would like to thank the many members of the club who formed a dignified guard of honour at the funeral on Sunday and who helped carry our great friend Noel to his final resting place. To Mary, David, Paul, Martin, Cian, Patsy and Joe and the entire Cassidy family and large circle of friends we extend our deepest sympathies. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.
