Lotto: The Lotto draw is being held in Gallagher’s Bar, Drumlish tonight, Wednesday, March 20th. The Jackpot is €15,200. Results will be published in next week’s notes. Tickets are available from the usual outlets and from any member of the executive. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our lotto.

Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill, manager Padraic Davis, and backroom team members Ian Higgins and Gordon Smyth on Longford’s vital win over Sligo which secures their position in Division 3 for next year. We wish the lads the best of luck against Westmeath next Sunday where there is still a possibility of promotion.

Club Membership: Club Membership for the forthcoming year is now available. The cost is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Membership is required for all playing members and for use of the gym. Membership entitles you to attend monthly club meetings and if received before March 31st, entitles you to a vote at next year’s AGM and entry into the draw for All Ireland tickets. To pay please contact Registrar, Bridie Reilly.

Challenge Match: In terrible conditions, the Gaels had their final challenge match before the start of the new season away to Lacken where the home side emerged victorious on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-7. The team and scorers were as follows:

Bertie Allen Cup:The new season gets underway next Saturday when our Reserve League 1 team travel to McGee Park to play Colmcille at 5.30pm. Best of luck to the team and management.

Sympathy: The club would like to express its sympathy to Brian O’Hara and family on the passing of Brian’s father Matt, in Ballinalee. The club also extends sympathy to the family and friends of Pat Clarke, Gortletteragh, who passed away recently. Pat was a true Gael who had an impact on many young lives in the parish through his teaching and love of GAA in Moyne. Sincere condolences are also extended to the family and friends of Olga Michalcionok (Drumlish). Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.

Reserve League Division 1: The Gaels got the Bertie Allen Cup off to a good start with a hard fought draw away to Colmcille. Trailing 1-4 to 0-1 after 15 minutes the lads battled back to end on level terms on a scoreline of 1-8 apiece. A cracking goal from Cian Cassidy after a long direct ball from Liam Lynch with ten minutes to go was ultimately what brought us back into it and a only for a couple of missed efforts near the end we could have won the match. The team and scorers were as follows:

Fixtures: The first match of the ACFL Division 2 league is this Sunday, March 31st at 2pm in Monaduff against Legan Sarsfields. Our Junior team play the first round of the Division 3 league on Saturday, March 30th against Shroid Slashers in Monaduff at 6pm. Best of luck to our respective teams and management. Please make sure and support the teams

Senior Scór: Hard luck and thank you to our Senior Scór Tráth na gCeist team of Gabriel Higgins, Ciarán Cooney, Joseph Gill and Pauric Gill who came 3rd in the Longford Question Time recently.

St. Mel’s College: Well done to St. Mel’s College who won the McGee Cup last week. Well done in particular to our two clubmen Cian Cassidy and Cian Murphy who both had exceptional performances.

New Venture: We would like to wish the best of luck to our clubmen Paddy Collum and Emmet Noonan with their new venture selling “Magic Pro” football socks. The Gaels have been kitted out with them and are looking well so if you need a good quality pair of football socks check out Magic Pro on Instagram or get in touch with the lads.

Club Captaincy: Well done and best of luck to Darren Farley who has been selected as club captain for the year. Best of luck also to Dean Cosgrave who is vice captain. The two men give it everything and deserve this great honour

Longford Seniors: Hard luck to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill, manager Padraic Davis, and backroom team members Ian Higgins and Gordon Smyth on Longford’s loss to Westmeath at the weekend. Although they missed out on promotion it was a good league campaign overall so well done to all involved in consolidation the county’s position in Division 3.

Minor News – 24-03-2019

MONSTER BINGO: St Vincents Minor Club are holding our Annual Bingo Fundraiser on Sunday 14th April 2019 @ 3pm,  in the ’98 Memorial Hall, Ballinamuck.  €2,500 to be won in prize money and Easter Eggs to be won on every page.  There will also be a monster raffle on the day.  The Minor Club caters for Nursery Children up to age 17/18 years of age and support from our players Parents, Families & Friends is appreciated.
