Annual Club Social: The Fr. Manning Gaels and St. Helen’s Annual Social was held last Saturday in the Olde Village Inn, Drumlish. A great night was had by all and we would like to thank MC Brendan Corrigan, Frank Feery for the excellent entertainment, Tom Cassidy and staff for their hospitality and Dial a Chef who provided the meals. On the night the senior team collected their Division 2 and Patsy Reilly Cup medals; David Collum received the Eamon Kerrigan Perpetual Trophy for senior player of the year; Dean Cosgrave received the Jimmy Tully Memorial Trophy for U21 player of the year and Lorraine Corrigan received the John Joe Brady Memorial Trophy for Club Person of the year. Mark Hughes received the St. Vincent’s minor player of the year and a special award was given to Eamon Hughes for his many years of hard work for the minor club. St. Helen’s made a special presentation to Sinéad Corrigan, Sinéad Hughes, Laura Burke and Orla Noonan as a result of winning the All Ireland Junior championship with Longford in 2016. Leah Donnelly received senior player of the year; Aoife Donnelly received underage player of the year and Amanda O’Hara received the most improved player award. Well done to all concerned. A special word of thanks to Longford County Board Chairperson Eamon Reilly and Vice Chairperson Bríd McGoldrick for making the presentations, it was greatly appreciated.
Referee Recruitment 2017: There is a foundation course in refereeing starting Monday, February 20th and will continue each Monday for four weeks. If you are interested in becoming a referee, please contact Lorraine Corrigan before Wednesday, February 15th.
Club Membership: Club membership is now available for the coming year. The fee is €30 for Adults and €15 for Students. Please contact Registrar Bridie Reilly if you would like to become a member.
Senior Scór: Longford Senior Scór takes place on Saturday February 18th at 7.30pm in Ardagh. Please note the change of venue, it was initially scheduled for Ennybegs. If anyone is interested in competing please contact Lorraine Corrigan or any member of the executive.
Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum and the Longford seniors on their winning start to the National League last Sunday after a great win over Offaly. We wish the squad the very best of luck against Louth in the next round.
GAA Gaeltacht Grant: Forms are now available for 2017 from the Longford GAA website or by contacting Lorraine Corrigan. Applicants must be 13 years or older on January 1st 2017.
National Club Draw: The club is participating in this year’s National GAA Club Draw. Tickets cost €10 and are available from any member of the senior team or executive. There are some fantastic prizes on offer such as the top prize, a brand new Opel Corsa. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Sympathy: The club expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Packie Bohan (Killyvehy, Cloone), who passed away recently. Sympathy is extended to Mary Mimnagh (Cloonaugh) on the death of her mother Ellen Reilly in Abbeylara and also to Frances Courtney (Cloonaugh) on the death of her brother Bernard Durnin in the UK. Senior Fixtures: The draw for Division 1 was made this week. It is due to start on the weekend of April 9th however no exact dates have yet been finalised. Our draw, in order, is as follows:
Clonguish (Home); Dromard (Away); Slashers (H); Killoe (A); Mostrim (H); Granard (A); Colmcille (H); Mullinalaghta (A); Abbeylara (H).
The Bertie Allen Cup for non-county players has been revived amd is due to start in March on weekends where Longford are involved in National League. We have been drawn in a group where we face, in order: Slashers (A), Granard (H), Clonguish (A), Colmcille (H), Mullinalaghta (A).

Code of Ethics: Please be advised that a Code of Ethics Course takes place on Wednesday, February 8th in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park commencing at 7 p.m. Numbers are limited so Booking in Advance is required. A course fee of €10 is applicable. Please call the County Board Office on 043 33 45219.
This course is a mandatory requirement for all those working with underage persons.
Now is also an ideal time to check that everyone is Garda Vetted under the GAA – please note that vetting in the workplace does not carry over to the GAA. Clubs having non Garda Vetted Persons involved in Underage teams are committing an offence in law.
