Annual General Meeting Our AGM was held last Friday, November 26th in Monaduff. Secretary Lorraine Corrigan gave out a comprehensive report on the events of the year gone by and Treasurer Stephen McDermott outlined the Income & Expenditure for 2021 in his report. Chairman Mike Mulleady expressed his gratitude to the outgoing committee and all those who supported the club in any way during the year. The officers elected for 2022 were as follows: Presidents: Fr. Bernard Hogan, Jimmy Breslin, Arnold Meagher, Jimmy Courtney, Mary Gillooley, Packie Gorman and Pat Flynn Chairman: Michael Mulleady. The annual club awards were also decided on the day. After the election of officers and awards, the floor was opened for any other business before Chairman Mike Mulleady closed the meeting with a prayer for deceased members of the club. The club would like to welcome all the new members on board and also express a big thank you to all the committee members who stepped down after their years of hard work and service. The club would also like to wish the new committee all the best for the coming year. Go bhfága Dia do shláinte agat, a Mhíchíl. Congratulations Well done to St. Helen’s legend Liam Forde on being awarded Sports Volunteer of the Year for 2021 by the Irish Sports Association. This is an incredible achievement and thoroughly deserved considering the 40+ years of dedication Liam has given to Éire Óg/St. Helen’s and Longford LGFA and is still giving to this day through his coaching of St. Helen’s underage teams and the Gaelic for Mothers & Others   Lotto The lotto draw took place on Monday last, November 22nd in Quinn’s Bar, Drumlish. The cost is €50 for adults and €40 for students/OAPs. Membership is required for all playing members and for use of the gym. Membership entitles you to attend monthly club meetings and if received before March 31^st, entitles you to a vote at next year’s AGM and entry into the draw for All Ireland tickets. Walking Track

Our floodlights and walking lights are now fully finished on the training pitch. The walkway lights will be on every evening over Winter, from 6pm-10pm for public use. Well done to all involved in developing this great facility

Charity Match

Our charity match between our Junior B team and the Mothers & Others was a tremendous success on Saturday evening last. Thank you to the large crowd which turned up and donated generously to Aware. A great night’s craic was had in The Mill Bar afterwards. Thank you to all who helped out in any way. On the field of play the Mothers & Others ran out comfortable winners and just had too much class for our lads, though there were complaints about dubious refereeing decisions by Paraic Brady!

 

 

Sympathy

Date for the Diary

St Helen’s Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others will play Fr Manning Gaels Junior B Team in a challenge game in Monaduff this Saturday November 13th 2021 at 5pm. This promises to be a fun and entertaining game for all the family to enjoy. Refreshments will be served after the game. All monies raised will go to the Aware charity and admission will be optional. That night the after-party will be held in The Mill Bar, Drumlish which also promises to be great entertainment. Live music on the night and refreshments will be served. There will also be a raffle with some great prizes. All support is greatly appreciated

 

Gaelic Masters

Well done to Cavan and Tyrone Masters on their respective All Ireland wins in Monaduff on Saturday last. A large crowd witnessed two excellent matches with many stars of the recent past in action. It was great to see Uachtaráin CLG Larry McCarthy in attendance at our grounds.

 

Sympathy

The club was very saddened to learn of the passing of Tommy Murtagh. Tommy was a former player with the club and an All Ireland Colleges winner with St. Mel’s in 1962. Our sincere sympathy to Tommy’s family and friends. Solas na bhFlaitheas air

Well done to Mullinalaghta on winning the senior championship at the weekend and we wish them the best of luck in their Leinster campaign. Commiserations to club great Gary Brady and his Ballymore team on their defeat in the junior final.
