Annual General Meeting: The following managerial appointments were made at our recent AGM.

Club Membership: Club membership is now available for the coming year. The fee is €30 for Adults and €15 for Students. Please contact Registrar Bridie Reilly if you would like to become a member.

Lotto: The draw was held in Dillon’s Bar, Ballinamuck on Monday last, January 22nd. The Jackpot was €9,400. Results are currently available on the club website and will be in next week’s notes. Tickets are available from the usual outlets and from any member of the executive.

Scór Sinsir: Please note that the Senior Scór date has changed. It now takes place in Ardagh Community Centre on Friday, February 23rd at 7:30pm. Competitions in Scór include: Rince Foirne – Figure Dancing; Amhránaíocht Aonair – Solo Singing; Aithriseoireacht / Scéaltaíocht – Recitation; Bailéad Ghrúpa – Ballad Group; Léiriú Stáitse – Sketch; Ceol Uirlise – Instrumental Music; Rince Seit – Set Dancing; Rince Sean Nós – Sean Nós Dancing. If anyone is interested in competing in the Figure Dancing please contact Mairéad O’Reilly at 0872606494. Please contact Lorraine Corrigan at 0864017301 if you are interested in competing in any of the other events. The club has a proud history in this competition and it would be great if we could get back competing in as many sections as possible.

Longford Seniors: Best of luck to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the Longford squad in the first round of the National League this Sunday in Tullamore against Offaly.

National Club Draw 2018: Tickets for the National Club Draw are currently available to purchase. If anyone would like to buy a ticket, please contact any member of the senior squad. Tickets cost €10. There are many great prizes to be won such as a new Renault Dynamique, a travel voucher worth €2,000 and All Ireland Hurling & Football final packages.

Ballinamuck/Drumlish First Responders: Ballinamuck/Drumlish First Responders will be delivering CFR and AED training on Thursday 1st Feb @7.15pm in the ‘98 Hall Ballinamuck – this training is certified by Irish Heart Foundation and Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council. We welcome all members involved in the club especially trainers, selectors etc to do this valuable course and anyone who is due for renewal to come along. Please give your name beforehand to Bridie Reilly, Yvonne Leslie or Paddy Howe

Sympathy: We would like to express our sincere condolences to the Lennon family on the recent passing of their mother Bridget. The Lennon family is steeped in our club with Pauline our assistant secretary, Kathleen our assistant treasurer and Seán is a former player, PRO and Chairman. Annual General Meeting: Our AGM was held last Saturday, January 13th in Monaduff. There was a large crowd in attendance which was great to see. Secretary Lorraine Corrigan gave a comprehensive report on the events of the previous year and Treasurer Stephen McDermott outlined the Income & Expenditure for 2017 in his report. Chairman Packie Duffy then expressed his gratitude to the outgoing committee and all those who supported the club in any way during the year. The officers elected for 2018 were as follows:

Packie Duffy – Thank you: At the AGM Packie Duffy announced that after 9 years as chairman he was stepping down. The club would like to sincerely thank Packie for all the tremendous work he has done for Fr. Manning Gaels over the years. Indeed, it must be noted that before Packie took the top seat for the Gaels, he was the St. Vincent’s chairman for the previous 6 years. Packie has done gaelic games in our parish some service and we are all greatly appreciative of this. Go raibh míle maith agat.

Annual Table Quiz: Our annual table quiz took place on Friday last in Gallagher’s Bar, Drumlish. As always it was a great evening’s entertainment so thank you to all who took part and well done to all who won prizes. In first place (after a tense tiebreaker asking how many square feet is the White House!) winning €100, was Table 1 – Ciarán Carey, Margaret Ann Carey and Michelle Mollaghan. In second place, winning €60, was Table 12 – Séamus Gallagher, Stelia Hopkins, Tony Clarke and Eleanor Beirne, who kindly donated their prize back to the club. In third place, winning €40, was Table 3 – Seán Mahon, Catherine Mahon, Vanessa Hayden, Mike Mulleady, Imelda McIntyre and Majella Farmer, who also kindly donated their prize back to the club. The raffle prize winners were as follows:

1st prize winning the Hamper (kindly sponsored by McCarrick’s) was Emma O’Connor.

2nd prize winning the bottle of wine and chocolates (kindly sponsored by the Corrigan family) was Michael McNally.

Mohill Success: Well done to clubmen Padraic Davis, Pete McWade and Ian Higgins on their back to back U21 championship success with Mohill at the weekend. This rounds off a great 2017 for the three men who also secured the Senior Championship and League earlier in the year.

Rounders: Seán Connolly’s, Ballinalee have recently set up a Rounders team, so if anyone is interested in playing one of the other GAA sports you can find out more information by emailing rounders.sec@seanconnollys.com

As we do not currently participate in Rounders ourselves, any one of our registered club members are eligible to play with Seán Connolly’s.

Championship: It is that time of year again. We are out in the first round of the Intermediate championship on Sunday next, July 22nd at 6pm in Allen Park, Clonguish against Seán Connolly’s. We wish the team and management team of Gary Donohoe, Mike Mulleady, Anthony McKeon and Gary Brady the very best of luck and we hope to see a good crowd out to cheer on the lads. Thank you to Mike Mulleady for his sponsorship of food for the team at the weekend. The club would like to wish Jonathan Connell a speedy recovery from his wrist injury which occurred during the week.

Minor News – 16-07-2018

Family Fun Day – Saturday 21st July 2018 from 12noon to 4pm in Monaduff GAA Grounds.  We will have blitz’s for U-8 and U-10 and the annual Parish League for u-12 and u-14.  We will also have bouncing castles and face painting and lots more activities – Guaranteed  Fun on the day.  Please note this is a Fundraising event and your support would be greatly appreciated so we look forward to see.
