Senior Championship We were drawn against our group opponents Longford Slashers for the quarter final of the senior championship. Check the fixture listings on the paper for details of time, date and venue. Best of luck to the team and management Junior Championship Our Junior team were comprehensively beaten by a very good Longford Slashers team on Wednesday evening last in Monaduff on a score line of 2-4 to 1-25. We now await the result of Granard and Longford Slashers to see if we progress any further in the competition. We played most of the match with 14 men after Declan Donnelly got the line and battled to come out on top 0-15 to 0-12 after losing Gearóíd Nertney to a black card in the last 5 minutes. ACFL Division 2

We got our Division 2 campaign off to a winning start on Saturday evening last when we defeated Killashee on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-9. Podge Gill scored the decisive goal mid-way through the second half. The team and scorers were as follows:

ACFL Division 4

Our Junior team made it a successful weekend all round when they beat neighbours Dromard in the Division 4 league on Sunday last on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-6. The team and scorers were as follows:

Club Membership

Thank you to everyone who has paid their membership to date, there has been a great response the last couple of weeks. If anyone else wishes to become a member, please contact Registrar, Bridie Reilly. This is necessary for anyone wishing to play Junior or Senior with the club this year. The cost is €30 for adult members and €15 for students.

Fixtures

Competitive action returns to the club this weekend coming. Thank you to those who have the grounds looking so well and in compliance with Covid regulations. We are playing St. Brigid’s, Killashee in Monaduff this Saturday, July 25th at 7pm in the first round of the Division 2 league. In the Division 4 League (Patsy Reilly Cup – for players outside the named 15) we are playing Dromard in the first round this Sunday, July 26th at 2pm in Monaduff.

Club Membership

Membership fees are now due. This is necessary for anyone wishing to play Junior or Senior with the club this year. The cost is €30 for adult members and €15 for students. Please make contact with Registrar, Bridie Reilly, to pay this as soon as possible.

A reminder that the club has offered to help collect the shopping/groceries/medication for the elderly and vulnerable in our parish. If you need this assistance or know of someone who does, please contact our secretary Lorraine Corrigan on 0864017301. Our team of volunteers are ready to help.

It was great to see 3 clubmen make Martin Breheny’s top 10 Longford players of the last 50 years in the Independent recently. Frank McNamee at no.9, Padraic Davis at no.7 and Jimmy Hannify at no.2. Nice bit of recognition for stellar careers at club and county

New Arrival

Congratulations to senior player Liam Lynch and his wife Breda on the birth of their daughter Faye at the weekend

Sympathy

The club extends sympathy to Marlene McWade and relatives on the passing of Stephen Thornton. We also extend our condolences to the family and friends of Michael Sonny McKeon (Clonaugh) who passed away recently. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.
