Just tick the box after picking your numbers and never worry about missing a draw again!    ACFL Division 1  We had a disappointing result last Saturday against Carrickedmond when losing 0-13 to 0-9 in Michael Moran Park. Trailing 0-4 to 0-2 at half time after playing against a gale, it died down significantly in the second and Carrickedmond raced six clear on the resumption. The team rallied with a couple of great long-range scores from Conor Keenan, converted frees from Martin Cassidy for fouls on himself and Pauric Gill, and Gill had an opportunity for a goal to level proceedings but was flicked over the bar by the keeper. Missed opportunities and handling errors cost us from narrowing the gap further and Carrickedmond kicked on again to win by four. Our next match is Wednesday week at home to Granard. The Division 4 team has a bye this weekend. The team and scorers were as follows: Paddy Collum (0-1, 1f), Paul McGee, Cian Brady, Stephen Cosgrave, Emmet Noonan, Gary Connell, JP Farley, Sean Whelan, Liam Lynch, Mark Hughes, Conor Keenan (0-2), Pauric Gill (0-1), Martin Cassidy (0-5, 4f), Podge Gill, Dean Cosgrave. Subs used: Mark Breslin, Kaelum Gill    Sympathy  The club was saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Walsh (Smear) formerly of Ballinamuck. Mickey was a strong player who played with the club in the early 70s and our deepest sympathies are extended to his family and friends. Solas na bhFlaitheas air

National Schools

Congratulations to Drumlish NS on their win in the Division 1B final against Killoe last week. This is the first time a school from the parish has competed in Division 1 since the founding of Cumann na mBunscol and great credit goes to Mike Mulleady, their trainer, who has been coaching in the school for a number of years as well as our underage and nursery coaches. Commiserations to Ballinamuck NS on their defeat but who also did very well to reach the final. Well done to Shane Hannify who got Man of the Match in his final win with Abbeylara NS

Sympathy

The club extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Fr Frank Gray who passed away last week. Fr. Frank was curate in the parish in the early 70s and took a very active role in the affairs of the club, being one of our club presidents and also on the finance committee which was instrumental in launching what would become the Marquee in Drumlish. ACFL Division 1

We were beaten on an official score-line of 0-11 to 0-10 against Mostrim in the senior league on Saturday evening last. This was particularly disappointing given that there was a couple of clear, vital decisions that went against us in the second half where the umpiring left a lot to be desired. Firstly, there was a Mostrim wide which was given as a point and in the closing stages Martin Cassidy kicked a wonderful point which was well inside the post and to the bemusement of all on both sides, the umpire incredibly waved it wide. As a club all you look for is fair play and we did not get that. Given the amount of time our players and officials dedicate to our games it is simply not good enough. The team and scorers were as follows:

Aiden Gray, Paul McGee, Cian Brady, Stephen Cosgrave, Mark Hughes (0-1), Gary Connell, JP Farley, Emmet Noonan, Sean Whelan, Mark Breslin, Conor Keenan (0-2), Jamie Nertney, Dean Cosgrave, Pauric Gill, Martin Cassidy (0-7, 4f)

Subs used: Kaelum Gill, Liam Lynch, Podge Gill

This concludes the first batch of senior league games until the conclusion of the Tailteann Cup. Our Division 4 team play Dromard in Dromard this Friday, May 27th at 8pm, best of luck to the team and management.

Sympathy
