Intermediate Championship
The fourth round of the Intermediate Championship took place last Saturday and we fell to a very disappointing 2-14 to 1-11 defeat against Cashel. Two soft goals conceded either side of half time coupled with erratic shooting and poor shot selection proved our downfall. A significant improvement will be required this Saturday against Kenagh in Ardagh at half 6 if we hope to qualify for the semi-final. We fell 0-3 to nil down in the opening stages before Cian Cassidy opened our scoring with a nice effort from play, then brother Martin converted a free for a foul on Pauric Gill. Cashel regained their three-point lead and we came back on level terms thanks to frees by Paddy Collum and Martin Cassidy for fouls on Gill, Emmet Noonan and Cassidy himself. A killer blow came on the stroke of half time when an effort for a point dipped into the net and this left Cashel 1-7 to 0-6 up at the break. There were a number of squandered chances on the resumption before Cashel hit the net for a second time and we were fighting an uphill battle from then on when the trend of missed opportunities continued. Some nice scores did come from substitute Podge Gill, Conor Keenan and Martin Cassidy converted frees for fouls on himself and Pauric Gill, before Cassidy notched a consolation goal near the end. The team and scorers were as follows: Paddy Collum (0-2, 2f), Paul McGee, Cian Brady, Stephen Cosgrave, JP Farley, Emmet Noonan, Mark Hughes, Liam Lynch, Sean Whelan, Pauric Gill, Conor Keenan (0-1), Jamie Nertney, Cian Cassidy (0-1) Martin Cassidy (1-5,5f), Dean Cosgrave. Subs: Podge Gill (0-2), Kaelum Gill, Philip Kane

The Marquee In Drumlish
After a gap of three years, our 11th Marquee in Drumlish Festival was held last weekend and we would like to thank everyone involved for helping make it such a tremendous success. Thank you to the artists who provided such wonderful entertainment on each of the 4 nights. We would like to pay particular tribute to Qween who came in at short notice for Aslan and had the place rocking on Sunday night. On that note we would sincerely like to thank everyone for their understanding when Aslan understandably had to pull out and everyone at the club would like to wish Christy Dignam the very best as he bravely fights illness. Thank you to the Gray family for the use of the Old School site. Thank you to the many volunteers who worked in the preparation of the site and over the course of the weekend. There were many early starts and late finishes but your hard work paid off and is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all those who helped run the Monster Bingo in Ballinamuck on Sunday and to those who ran the youth event in the Marquee on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to the Order of Malta, Civil Defence and An Garda Síochána for their tireless work also.
Thank you to Tom Cassidy of the Olde Village Inn, Drumlish who was our licencing partner this year. Thank you to Mike and Martin Mulleady at Mulleady Properties who sponsored the festival once again this year
Finally, a massive thank you to all those who came from near and far to attend the Festival. We are sure you all had an enjoyable weekend and we are looking forward to seeing you all back in Drumlish next year. We are extremely grateful to the people of our parish for their continued support in running the festival. Without this kind of support from the people of the community it would be impossible for us to stage such an event. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.
Intermediate Championship
The third round of the Intermediate Championship took place last Sunday and we had a good 3-13 to 0-4 win over Legan Sarsfields in The Laurels. Trailing 0-3 to 0-2 midway through the first half we gradually got on top with a couple scores from Pauric Gill, a Martin Cassidy free for a foul on Gill and the vital Conor Keenan goal, beautifully rolled into the bottom corner and this left it 1-6 to 0-4 in our favour at the break. We started the second half well Emmet Noonan, Liam Lynch, Sean Whelan and the particularly prominent Mark Hughes providing the platform for many attacks and when Dean Cosgrave turned the ball over to place Pauric Gill for a goal 10 minutes into the second half the team never looked back. More good scores came from Cian Cassidy, Mark Hughes and influential substitutes Philip Kane and Kaelum Gill before Conor Keenan raced through for an almost identical finish to his first goal and we ran out comfortable winners in the end. Best of luck to the team and management as we face Cashel this Saturday in Allen Park at 6pm. The team and scorers were as follows: Paddy Collum (0-1, ‘45’), Paul McGee, Cian Brady, Stephen Cosgrave, JP Farley, Emmet Noonan, Mark Hughes (0-3), Liam Lynch, Sean Whelan, Pauric Gill (1-2), Conor Keenan (2-0), Jamie Nertney, Cian Cassidy (0-2), Martin Cassidy (0-2, 1f), Dean Cosgrave (0-1). Subs: Kaelum Gill (0-1), Aiden Gray, Mark Breslin, Philip Kane (0-1)
