ACFL Division 4
The Division 4 team had a great 2-13 to 0-5 win over Connollys on Wednesday evening last. Team and scorers were as follows: Aiden Gray, Sean McKenna, Darren Reilly, Tom McGee (0-1), Declan Donnelly, Kevin Whitney, Sean Whelan, Mark Breslin, Jamie Nertney (0-1), Ryan Crowe (0-3), Petie Collum (1-2), Cathal Quinn (0-3), Padraig O’Neill. Subs: Kevin Whelan (1-2), Caelum McGee, Stephen Cosgrave, Sean Hourican, Aaron Quinn. The Division 4 team played Ardagh Moydow yesterday evening Tuesday, in the final round.
ACFL Division 5
The Division 5 team were well beaten by Abbeylara on Sunday afternoon last on a final score of 3-22 to 2-8. Team and scorers: Cody Lee, Ciaran Cooney, James O’Neill, Caelum McGee, Micheal Kane, David McKenna, Kevin Whitney (0-1), Mark Duffy, David Taylor (0-1), Darren Farley (1-0), Jack Nertney (0-2, 1f), Anthony Bispo (1-0), Aaron Crowe (0-4, 2f). ACFL Division 2
On Saturday evening last the Gaels defeated Ballymahon 1-14 to 0-12 in Monaduff. We led 0-11 to 0-6 at the break thanks to a major scoring contribution from wing back Dean Cosgrave and an excellent Paddy Collum save. Conor Keenan rolled in the decisive goal early in the second half after being put through from a Pauric Gill turnover. Team and scorers were as follows: Paddy Collum (0-1, 1f), Sean McKenna, Darren Reilly, Paul McGee, Kaelum Gill, JP Farley, Dean Cosgrave (0-4), Mark Breslin (0-1), Mark Hughes, David Collum, Ryan Crowe, Jamie Nertney (0-1), Cian Cassidy (0-3), Pauric Gill (0-1), Conor Keenan (1-3). The Division 2 team had a disappointing 1-8 to 0-8 defeat at the hands of Ardagh Moydow last Sunday afternoon. The team was on the backfoot early on after the concession of a goal in the opening stages followed by the dismissal of Martin Cassidy for a second yellow. Next outing is Saturday week against Ballymahon. John Joe Sorohan RIP
The club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of John Joe Sorohan in Limerick recently. John Joe was the steadfast goalkeeper on our 1953 senior championship and senior league winning team. The Division 5 team had a great 1-9 to 1-4 win over Granard on Wednesday evening last. New recruit Cathal Quinn was the difference between the two teams with 5 excellent points. Longford
Best of luck to Oisin Kane, Sean Gibbons and manager Enda McGahern All Ireland minor quarter-final against Armagh this weekend. Hard luck to Paddy Collum and the Longford team on their defeat by Waterford last Saturday. Well done to Paddy who was acknowledged at county training during the week by Longford GAA for having over 100 appearances for Longford seniors. This is a great achievement, and he is only the fourth clubman to reach this significant milestone, following in the footsteps of such legends as Jimmy Hannify, Frank McNamee and Padraic Davis. Since his debut in 2012, Paddy has now played 126 competitive games for Longford and represented Leinster in the 2016 Railway Cup.
