Intermediate Championship: On Sunday evening last we played Seán Connolly’s in the first round of the Mulleady Group Intermediate Championship. Thankfully we came away with the win after a physical contest on a scoreline of 0-12 to 1-8. The team and scorers were as follows:

Lotto: The draw was held in The ‘98 Bar, Ballinamuck on Monday last, July 23rd.  The Jackpot was €12,000. The results are currently on the club website and will be in next week’s notes. Junior Championship: The dates were set for the Junior championship recently and they are as follows: Round 1: Saturday August 1st at home to Abbeylara at 7.30pm. Round 2, Saturday August 11th away to Ardagh/Moydow at 7.30pm and Round 3 at home to Mostrim on Saturday August 18th with the time to be confirmed. Players eligible for this please take note as we have a good panel at this grade with all players available.

Monster Bingo: The Monster Bingo in conjunction with The Marquee In Drumlish is back again this year on Sunday, August 19th at 3pm in the ’98 Memorial Hall, Ballinamuck. There is €2,500 in prize money to be won and there will also be a “Monster Raffle” on the day. All proceeds are going to the Midland Simon Community.

Sponsorship: The club was very grateful to receive sponsored gear at the weekend ahead of the first round of the championship. Thank you to Padraic Davis of Padraic Davis Auctioneering for sponsoring training shirts which proudly carry the “Opt For Life” Organ donation foundation logo. Thank you also to Brian O’Connor of Bond Engineering, New York City for his sponsorship of shorts for the squad. Thanks to his aunt Eileen McGann who represented him at the presentation in Monaduff on Saturday evening. Both men need no introduction around Longford. As we know they excelled on the playing field for both the Gaels and Longford and it is wonderful to have them still giving us such support. We wish them both continued success with their respective businesses. Thank you to our selector Anthony McKeon of McKeon Tyres who sponsored food for the panel at the weekend. The club is privileged to have so many people willing to support us in all ways possible.

Sympathy: The club would like to extend its’ sympathies to Declan Blessington (Drumlish), on the death of his brother Thomas. The club extends its’ condolences to the Leslie family, Ballinamuck on the death of Oliver in Gortletteragh. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.

Challenge: We had a challenge match last Sunday morning against Ballymahon in Monaduff with the visitors ending up victorious on a scoreline of 1-17 to 2-7. The team and scorers were as follows:

Longford: Hard luck to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the rest of the Longford team and management on their unlucky defeat to Kildare in the Qualifiers. Well done to all involved on a good year overall for Longford football. Well done also to our young St. Vincent’s players who got the opportunity to play at half time.

Bertie Allen Cup: We played Clonguish in the Bertie Allen on Thursday evening last in Newtown and were unfortunate to end up on the losing side by one point. Having played poorly in the first half, we were down 9 points but managed to pull it back level after an excellent second half display but unfortunately Clonguish kicked on to secure the win. The final score was Clonguish 1-14 Fr. Manning Gaels 2-10. The team and scorers were as follows:

Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the rest of the Longford team and management on their terrific win over Meath in Pearse Park in the quarter final of the Leinster Championship. Best of luck to all in their preparations for the Leinster semi final against Dublin in two weeks’ time in Croke Park.

Fixtures: We are away to Grattan Óg in the Summer Football League this Saturday, June 2nd at 7pm. This is a competition which excludes all county players at every level. Best of luck to the team and management.

Championship Draw: We were drawn in Group 2 of the Intermediate championship along with Seán Connolly’s, Ardagh/Moydow and Cashel. The top team qualifies for the semi final with 2nd and 3rd place going into quarter finals and the last placed team into a relegation play-off. The first round is against Seán Connolly’s on the first weekend in August. The Junior championship draws will be made at a later date.

Bertie Allen Cup: Hard luck to our lads who were defeated by Dromard on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-9 on Saturday evening last in Monaduff. The team and scorers were as follows:

Padraic Gearty Cup: Our Junior reserve team were well beaten by Seán Connolly’s last Sunday in Maguire Park, Ballinalee on a scoreline of 2-21 to 2-10. The team and scorers were as follows: James McCann, Brean Kane, Timothy Bouvin, Brian O’Connor, Mark Breslin, Cathal Howe, Jonathan Connell, Paddy McKeon, Ryan Crowe (0-3), Rúairí Carthy (0-1), Seán Breslin, Cian Cassidy (2-4), Derek McKeon.

Annual Mass: Our annual Mass was held last Sunday in St. Mary’s Church, Drumlish. Thank you to all who came and to those who participated. A special word of thanks to Bridie Reilly who co-ordinated it again this year.

Sympathy: The club wishes to extend its sincerest sympathy to the Rogers and Davis family on the recent passing of Mary Rogers (Mill Road, Drumlish). Mary always supported the club and had an enormous impact on so many lives in the parish as a great educator for many years in the National School. Solas na bhFlaitheas uirthi.

Michael Moran ACFL Division 2: Well done to our squad who got back to winning ways on Friday evening last by overcoming Kenagh on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-3 in Monaduff. An excellent flicked goal by full forward Kevin Whelan, from a Dean Cosgrave soccer style cross, set the lads on their way to victory mid way through the first half. Short many players for various reasons it was great to come away with two points and a good performance. This match concludes action in the league proper until Longford are finished in the championship. We are out in the Bertie Allen Cup this Saturday evening at 7pm away to Ballymahon. Longford Race Day Punchestown: Thank you to Tom Cassidy who this year again organised the selling of tickets for the annual Longford GAA race day at Punchestown. The club was very well represented and a great day out was had by all.

New Arrival: Congratulations to club stalwart Cian Brady and his wife Laura on the birth of their baby daughter at the weekend

Division 3A: Well done to our Junior squad who defeated Longford Slashers on Saturday evening last in Monaduff on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-10. Afisted goal from Ryan Crowe with 5 minutes left on the clock helped secure a thoroughly deserved victory for our lads. The team and scorers were as follows:
