County Championship: Congratulations to Mullinalaghta on winning the senior championship for the third year in a row. Well done to Rathcline on winning the intermediate final. Patsy Reilly Cup: We had thought our year was over after our defeat in the championship but the withdrawal of Cashel from the Patsy Reilly Cup has meant that we now are in the semi-final this Saturday, October 27^th away to Carrickedmond at 4pm. Best of luck to the team and management

Challenge Match: The team had a useful challenge match on Friday night last in Monaduff in preparation for the Carrickedmond match against Granard. Granard ran out winners 3-12 to 3-10. Our team was as follows:

Monthly Meeting: Our monthly Executive meeting takes place this Thursday, October 25^th at 8.30pm in Monaduff. All members of the Executive are requested to attend. This will be followed by a club meeting at 9.30pm where all club members are invited to attend.

Pitch Work: Work on the upgrading on the training pitch is progressing well thanks to the spell of relatively good weather we have had lately. Please see the club website for photos of the work carried out to date.

Patsy Reilly Cup: On Saturday afternoon last we played Carrickedmond in the semi final of the Patsy Reilly Cup. Short a number of players and out of action for the last six weeks it was always going to be a struggle and we ended up losing on a scoreline of 3-14 to 0-4. The team and scorers were as follows:

September Sports Star of the Month: Congratulations to our own Darren Farley who has been nominated in the Longford Leader for the September Sports Star of the month award as a result of his performances for the succesful Longford team in New York, of which Darren was the captain. Danny McGee RIP: A dark cloud has been hanging over our club and parish since word filtered through last Thursday that young Danny McGee had tragically passed away in New York. Danny was a terrific underage player for St. Vincent’s. He excelled in every age group and could play in any position where his pace, fielding, and an ability to kick accurately with both feet caused many headaches for the opposition. He was equally prominent for the Gaels U21 side and had played for the senior team shortly before emigrating to the United States. Poignantly, Danny was set to return home early next year and a bright future lay ahead of him in both his studies and the field at Monaduff. Above all else he was a young genetleman with a great sense of humour and he will be sorely missed by all. We extend our sincerest sympathy to Danny’s parents Don and Colleen, his brother Brian and sister Eva, extended family and wide circle of friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis.

Leinster Colleges: Well done to Gaels players Cian Murphy and Cian Cassidy who both played significant roles in St. Mel’s Leinster championship victory over St. Peter’s, Wexford last week. Redevelopment Work: Work by Prunty Pitches commenced on the upgrading of the training pitch at Monaduff Park during the week. This is an exciting development for the club and when the job is complete we are looking forward to having a second top class floodlit pitch along with a walkway. Thank you to our supporter and neighbour Petie Joe Gill for the use of his field whilst works are ongoing.

Thank you: The club would like to thank the legendary JP McManus for his wonderful gesture during the week whereby he donated €100,000 to each county board for distribution to each club. This money will go a long way in promoting Gaelic Games all across the island of Ireland. Go raibh míle maith agat.

Tidy Towns: Well done to both our Ballinamuck and Drumlish Tidy Towns Committees on the excellent results they achieved last week. It is great to see both our villages looking so well and this hard work is terrific for community spirit and pride in our parish.

New Arrivals: It was a busy week for two of our club stalwarts. Congratulations to long serving player Mark Duffy and his wife Martha on the birth of their daughter Anna. Congratulations also to our selector and even longer serving player Gary Brady and his partner Michelle on the birth of their son Tom. We wish both families continued health and happiness.

Wedding Bells: Congratulations to club player James O’Neill and his wife Zara Sheridan who got married last Friday. Everyone at the club wishes the couple a healthy and happy future together.

Best of luck: We would like to wish our former manager Gary Donohoe the very best of luck in his new role as a selector with the Leitrim senior football team.
