ACFL Division 2: Our match against Legan Sarsfields was called off at the weekend and will be rescheduled at a later date. We play Kenagh, this Sunday, April 7th in McGann Park at 2pm. Best of luck to the team and management.
ACFL Division 3: Our Juniors got their league off to a great start on Saturday evening last when they defeated Shroid Slashers on a scoreline of 5-14 to 2-2. Young Brian O’Connor was very impressive and he finished with 4-3 to his credit. Their next outing is this Saturday, April 6th away to Dromard. The team and scorers were as follows:

Club Membership: Club Membership for the forthcoming year is now available. The cost is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Membership is required for all playing members and for use of the gym. Membership entitles you to attend monthly club meetings and if received before March 31st, entitles you to a vote at next year’s AGM and entry into the draw for All Ireland tickets. Challenge Match: We had our first get together of the year under the new management team of Jack Lynn, Dessie Connell, Niall Mulleady and Graham Lee on Sunday morning last in Monaduff when the lads faced Gowna in a challenge. It was an excellent workout for both sides with our lads emrging the victors 2-14 to 2-10. The team was follows:

Leinster Colleges: Well done to Gaels players Cian Murphy and Cian Cassidy who both played significant roles in St. Mel’s Leinster championship victory over St. Peter’s, Wexford last week. Cian Cassidy was the match-winner with 2-1 and Cian Murphy had a fine game at corner back. We wish the lads the best of luck for the rest of the campaign

Annual General Meeting: Our AGM was held last Sunday, December 16th in Monaduff. Secretary Lorraine Corrigan gave a comprehensive report on the events of the previous year and Treasurer Stephen McDermott outlined the Income & Expenditure for 2018 in his report. Chairman Séamus Gallagher then expressed his gratitude to the outgoing committee and all those who supported the club in any way during the year. The officers elected for 2019 were as follows:

Annual Christmas Quiz: Our annual Christmas table quiz was held in The Mill Bar, Drumlish on Friday last, December 28th. With over 30 tables it was our biggest and best quiz to date and a great night was had by all. Before the quiz started our club award winners were presented with their trophies. Dean Cosgrave was presented with the Eamon Kerrigan Senior Player of the Year Trophy by Eileen Kerrigan; Bridie Reilly was presented with the John Joe Brady Clubperson of the Year Trophy by Kathleen Brady and Aaron McGee was presented with the Jimmy Tully U20 Player of the Year award by Patrick Tully. Well done to all the award winners. In the quiz in first place was Eamon Bennett’s team (Tarmonbarry) on 76 points; 2nd place was Marie Gill’s team on 75 points and 3rd place was Packie Duffy’s team on 71 points. Thank you to all three teams who kindly donated their prize money back to the club. There was a special prize (a case of Bulmers, sponsored by McKeon’s Wholesale Bottlers) for the best team name and that went to the Women’s Shed for their name “The Hen House”. Drugs, Alcohol & Cyber Security Awareness: Fr Manning Gaels & St Vincents are hosting an Information Evening on Drug, Alcohol and Cyber Security Awareness on Friday January 18th ‘19 in the clubhouse Monaduff from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. This promises to be a very informative evening given by Professionals. Every parent and child should know about the disease of addiction, both substances and behavioral & it’s effects on the family, also to learn about the basic cyber security tips to protect you and your family. It is open to the wider Community, to all Parents and Secondary school children age group up. All welcome so please come and join us. This is a free event, there will be a question and answer session also light refreshments.

Hard luck to Longford who were beaten by Westmeath in the O’Byrne Cup semi-final on Saturday last. Best of luck to the squad as they now prepare for the National League.

Fr. Manning Gaels and St Vincent’s are hosting an information evening on Drug, Alcohol and Cyber Security Awareness on Friday, January 18th in Monaduff from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
