Lotto: The draw was held in The Mill Bar, Drumlish on Monday last, March 19th. The Jackpot was €10,200. Results are currently available on the club website and will be in next week’s notes. U20 Championship: Our U20s were in action on Bank Holiday Monday last against Grattan Óg/Rathcline in the championship in Stonepark. Details will be in next week’s paper

Bertie Allen Cup: We are out in the Bertie Allen Cup against Mostrim this Friday, March 23rd at 8.30pm in Monaduff. Best of luck to the team and management. Please support

Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the Longford squad on their great win over Westmeath on Sunday last. Best of luck to the team and management in the winner takes all promotion match at home to Fermanagh this Sunday

Club Membership: Money for club membership is now due from all players and anyone who wish to become a member of Fr. Manning Gaels for 2018. Membership is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Players who do not pay their membership fee will not be covered by club insurance should injury arise. Only those who have paid membership will be eligible to represent the club in the upcoming season. Membership entitles entry in draw for All-Ireland football and hurling tickets in August. Those who pay membership byMarch 31st ’18 will also be eligible to vote at next years AGM.

Scór Sinsir – Tráth na gCeist: Best of luck to Rúairí Carthy, Ciarán Cooney, Pauric Gill and Joseph Gill who are competing in the Senior Scór Table quiz this Thursday night, March 22nd, in Pearse Park.

Challenge Match: Our first team had their first workout of the year with a good challenge against a strong Seán O’Heslin’s, Ballinamore outfit on Friday night last in Monaduff. The visitors emerged with the win on a scoreline of 3-7 to 0-8. Thank you to Tony Gaffney for refereeing the match and to Von and Lorraine Corrigan for providing refreshments afterwards. Thanks also to Ballinamore for travelling down and we wish them the best of luck for the coming year. Our team and scorers were as follows:

Sympathy: It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of one of our greatest supporters, Jimmy Joe Corrigan (Lettergullion & Mill Oaks), during the week. Latest News – 25-02-2018

Scór Sinsear: Pride of place this week goes to Shane Hagan who won the Solo Singing competition at the Senior Scór county final on Friday night last in Ardagh. It has been a few years since the club has won a county title in Scór so it was great to see Shane deservedly come home victorious. Hard luck to our instrumental musicians (Shane Hagan, Rúairí Carthy and Cathal Culliney) who gave an exceptional performance and were very unlucky not to win. We would like to thank the lads for competing and also our Scór Co-ordinator Lorraine Corrigan who organised our competitors. Thanks also to Betty Creegan who was there on the night to help the lads. Best of luck to Shane as he prepares for the Leinster Semi Final in The Downs, Co. Westmeath on Sunday, March 4th.

St Vincent’s Nursery: In order to prepare for this years “GAA FunDo Have a Ball Nursery”, St Vincents are now looking for helpers and volunteers to help run it. Last year was the first year it was established and it proved to be a great success. The nursery gives children ages 4 to 6 an opportunity to be introduced to sport in a friendly, fun and safe environment not just concentrating on GAA skills but also fundamental skills known as the ABC,s – Agility, Balance and Coordination. This year, the nursery will be open for boys and girls born in 2012 and 2013. Annual Social Night: On Saturday night last we held our 45th Annual Social Night along with St. Vincent’s and St. Helen’s in Dillon’s Bar and Bistro, Ballinamuck. Thank you to everyone who came and helped make it such an enjoyable night. Everyone was well entertained by the music of Colm Cahill and enjoyed a delicious a meal. On the night, the three clubs made their respective award presentations. We would like to thank the representatives from the County Board, Micheál Carrigy and Tommy McLoughlin who helped make the presentations. The St. Vincent’s Minor player of the year was Ryan Crowe and he received the Seán Brady Memorial Trophy; St. Helen’s Young Player of the Year was Casey Robinson; Most Improved Player was Ciara Dillon and Senior Player of the Year was Sarah Murphy. Fr. Manning Gaels U21 Player of the Year receiving the Jimmy Tully Memorial Trophy was Mark Hughes; Senior Player of the Year was Pauric Gill who received the Eamon Kerrigan Memorial Trophy and Club Personality of the Year was Packie Duffy who received the John Joe Brady Memorial Trophy. A special presentation was made to Packie Duffy by Chairman Séamus Gallagher in recognition of Packie’s tremendous service to the club as Chairman for the last 9 years. Congratulations to all the award winners. Thank you to Peter & Margaret Dillon and the staff who had the venue looking so well and for providing such a lovely meal. Thank you to Derek O’Neill who was the photographer on the night and thanks to Betty Creegan and Lorraine Corrigan who organised the whole event.

Annual Social: Our annual social night will take place this year on February 17th in Dillon’s Ballinamuck. There will be food and music on the night and tickets will soon be on sale for €10. Further details to follow.

Scór: Senior Scór takes place in Ardagh Community Centre on Friday 9th February at 7:30pm. Competitions in Scór include: Rince Foirne – Figure Dancing; Amhránaíocht Aonair – Solo Singing; Aithriseoireacht / Scéaltaíocht – Recitation; Bailéad Ghrúpa – Ballad Group; Léiriú Stáitse – Sketch; Ceol Uirlise – Instrumental Music; Rince Seit – Set Dancing; Rince Sean Nós – Sean Nós Dancing. If anyone is interested in competing or knows of anyone who would be interested in competing this year please contact Lorraine Corrigan as soon as possible. The club has a proud history in this competition and it would be great if we could get back competing in as many sections as possible.

Longford Seniors: Well done to Paddy Collum, Pauric Gill and the Longford squad on their excellent win over Offaly at the weekend. We wish the lads the best of luck in the next round of the NFL this Sunday in Pearse Park against Derry.

2018 Gaeltacht Grant Application: Please contact Lorraine Corrigan if you are 13 years or older on January 1st 2018 and are interested in applying for the GAA Gaeltacht Grant. The form must be completed by Friday March 23rd, by emailing Éamonn Ó Braonáin at irishculturalofficer.longford@gaa.ie or by handing it into the office at Pearse Park.

National Club Draw 2018: Tickets for the National Club Draw are currently available to purchase. If anyone would like to buy a ticket, please contact any member of the senior squad. Tickets cost €10. There are many great prizes to be won such as a new Renault Dynamique, a travel voucher worth €2,000 and All Ireland Hurling & Football final packages.

Gym Notice: From February 5th the gym will be operating on an opening and closing hours basis for members only. Monday to Friday will be 6pm to 10pm. Weekends will be 1pm to 5pm. The gym will remain closed outside of these hours. Teams training from the club have priority in the gym and can train at any time once it is part of an organised training session. If you have not paid your membership you are not permitted to use the gym and no one under 16 years of age is allowed into the gym.

We welcome all members involved in the club especially trainers, selectors etc to do this valuable course and anyone who is due for renewal to come along.
