Dinner Dance

Our Dinner Dance took place on Saturday night last January 18th in Lough Rynn where a wonderful night was had by the big crowd in attendance. Our victorious Intermediate team were presented with their championship medals by none other than Kerry legend Séamus Moynihan. Our management team received pieces of crystal to recognise their work in achieving championship success. Thank you to Séamus and his wife for travelling from Kerry to be with us and also to County Board Chairman Albert Cooney and his wife for joining us on the night as well. The Intermediate team of 1975 was honoured and received pieces of crystal to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the occasion. The club awards were also presented. Paddy Collum received the Eamon Kerrigan trophy for Club Player of the Year. Conor Keenan received the Jimmy Tully U20 Player of the Year and Lorraine Corrigan received the John Joe Brady Club Personality of the Year. A special presentation of the county final match ball was made by county manager Padraic Davis to Martin Cassidy in recognition of being the championship top scorer. Well done to all on their well-deserved accolades. Well done also to young Cian Murphy on winning Minor player of the year and to Louise Quinn and Michelle Murray on their awards with St. Helen’s.Thank you to the staff at Lough Rynn for an excellent meal and service and thank you to Nite Fever for the entertainment. Finally, thank you to the chairman Séamus Gallagher and the organising committee for ensuring a wonderful night was had by all.

Longford

Well done to player Paddy Collum, manager Padraic Davis, backroom team Ian Higgins and Gordon Smyth and the rest of the Longford team and management on winning the O’Byrne Cup at the weekend. Paddy joins Jimmy Hannify (1965), Padraic Davis, Paraic Brady, Martin Mulleady and Pete McWade (2000) in winning an O’Byrne Cup with Longford from the club. Best of luck in the first round of the National League this weekend against Louth. Well done to the U20s and our own Conor Keenan who had a great game in the draw with Fermanagh which has meant qualification for the Philly McGuinness Cup final next weekend against Monaghan.

 

Club Membership

Club Membership for the forthcoming year is now available. The cost is €30 for adults and €15 for students. Membership is required for all playing members and for use of the gym. Membership entitles you to attend monthly club meetings and if received before March 31st, entitles you to a vote at next year’s AGM and entry into the draw for All Ireland tickets. National Club Draw

The National Club Draw tickets are back on sale again this year and this great initiative by the GAA has helped contribute vital funds to our club for the past number of years. Individual prizes include: A brand new Renault Clio; a €2,000 travel voucher; All Ireland Hurling & Football packages; various shopping vouchers and many more. Details of each prize available are on each ticket. Tickets cost €10 and can be bought from any member of the Gaels squad. As always, your support is greatly appreciated.

Sympathy

The club expresses its sincere condolences to Padraig O’Brien and the O’Brien family on the recent passing ofMaura. We extend our sympathy to Eileen Forde (formerly of Kilmahon) on the passing of her husband Vincent Boyle in the US. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.
