ACFL Division 2
Well done to the lads who had a good win against Ballymore in Monaduff last Saturday. The final score was 2-9 to 0-8. It was 0-5 to 0-3 at half time but the Gaels could have been behind, but for a timely interception by the hard-working Mark Breslin, which prevented a goal. Cian Cassidy put daylight between the teams with a hard shot to the roof of the net after being put through by Kevin Whelan with five minutes gone in the second half. Ryan Crowe made sure of victory with ten to go when Jamie Nertney won a great ball around the middle to start a move which saw Ryan get in for a back post finish. The team and scorers were as follows: Paddy Collum, Tom McGee (0-1), JP Farley (0-1), Paul McGee, Kaelum Gill, Mark Hughes, Caelum McGee, Mark Breslin, Sean Whelan, Jamie Nertney (0-1), Conor Keenan (0-2), David Collum, Cian Cassidy (1-4, 3f), Kevin Whelan, Ryan Crowe (1-0). Subs used: Orrin Greene, Kevin Whitney, Liam Lynch. It was great to see Liam Lynch introduced in the closing stages after a long layoff due to injury. Well done also to young Caelum McGee who made an impressive debut at wing back. Attention turns to the start of the Division 4 league this weekend when the Gaels are away to Ballymahon at 2pm on Sunday. Best of luck to the team and management
