Shane Lawlor RIP

The club was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Shane Lawlor last weekend. We offer our deepest condolences at this time to his wife Orla, daughter Niamh and son Cian, who is a star player for our St Vincent’s U-14 team. Shane had been a huge presence within the St Vincent’s Minor Club and had helped coach at numerous age groups and will be greatly missed by everyone in the club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

 

Lotto

Our lotto draw took place in Quinn’s Bar, Drumlish on Monday last, February 18th. The Jackpot was €3,400. Results are currently on the club website and social media and will be published in next week’s notes. Thank you to all who support our lotto. The next draw will take place in The Mill Bar, Drumlish on Monday, March 4th. Please play again on Clubspot by selecting the Fr Manning Gaels option or from the usual ticket sellers.

 

Club Membership

Club Membership for the forthcoming year is now available. The cost is €50 for adults and €40 for students/OAPs. Membership is required for all playing members. Membership, if received before March 31st, entitles you to a vote at next year’s AGM, entry into the draw for All Ireland tickets and the chance to win a night away for 2 in Kilronan Castle. To pay please contact Registrar, Graham Lee or through the Clubspot app.

Dinner Dance

We are holding our Dinner Dance this year for our victorious Intermediate Championship and ACFL Division 4 winning teams this Saturday, February 22nd in Lough Rynn Castle. The St Helen’s Junior B Championship winning team will also receive their medals. Dinner is at 8pm with music by Nite Fever. Tickets cost €45. Please contact Lorraine if you wish to attend.

 

Longford

Hard luck to Paddy Collum and the Longford team and management on their defeat by Wicklow on Sunday. It was a proud occasion for Paddy, who had his 100th league/championship appearance for the county. This is a feat within the club only matched by the great Frank McNamee. Paddy was honored with the captaincy for the day, the first Gaels man to do so since Padraic Davis in 2002.
