Match Report – Senior – Division 2 – Fr. Manning Gaels v Ballymore

Round 1 – All County Football League Division 2:

12:30; 20/3/2016
Monaduff
Referee: Fergal Kelly

Fr. Manning Gaels 4-17 Ballymore 0-07

The senior team got their league campaign underway with a comprehensive 22 point defeat of Ballymore in summer conditions in Monaduff on Sunday last. The Gaels got the perfect start with a goal within 20 seconds of the throw in. Aaron Quinn delivered a long ball to Darren Farley who burst past his man and fired the ball into the roof of the net. The home side never looked back from here and held a commanding 1-08 to 0-04 lead at half time over the Ballymore men whose cause was not helped by getting a man sent off mid way through the first half. 3 more goals followed in the second half from Petie Collum, Martin Cassidy and Mark Duffy along with some terrific individual points from Emmet Noonan, Kevin & Seán Whelan and Martin Cassidy. While it was an overall solid team performance the individual display of Martin Cassidy deserves to be highlighted as he ended up with 1-07 to his credit with all but one point coming from open play. The high fielding and accurate kick passing of Dylan Quinn, upon his introduction in the second half, was also most impressive.

Speedy recovery to John Paul Farley who suffered a nasty head injury which forced him to retire in the first half.
