Mulleady Group Intermediate Championship Final

Pride of place this week goes to our team who won the Intermediate championship and secured senior status for the club by virtue of an excellent 2-14 to 0-11 victory over Ballymahon. The Fr. Manning Gaels committee would like to thank all players and the management team of Jack Lynn, Dessie Connell and Niall Mulleady who worked so hard all year. We also sincerely thank the backroom team of Graham Lee (who could not be there as he is serving our country in the Lebanon), Gerry Whelan (Dublin Trainer), Bridie Reilly, Lorraine Corrigan and Gareth Donnelly. Thank you to all our supporters, the backing from the parish was terrific and it was great to see so many flags and posters from houses and businesses across the parish and the support on the day in Pearse Park was like a 16th man. A massive thank you to our various sponsors, in particular our main sponsors the Davis Brothers (Peter, Liam and John) who once again sponsored the players after the match. Thank you to Peter Dillon and staff at Dillon’s of Ballinamuck for sponsoring a lovely meal for the team and management after the match. Massive congratulations to young Conor Keenan on his well deserved Man of the Match award. Hard luck to Ballymahon, we thank them for a very sporting game and wish them all the best for the future. The team and scorers were as follows:

Paddy Collum (0-1, 1f), Darren Reilly, Cian Brady, Derek McCormack, Mark Hughes, Gary Connell, Emmett Noonan (0-1), Aaron Quinn, Liam Lynch (0-1), Dean Cosgrave (0-1), Darren Farley, Conor Keenan (1-2), Pauric Gill (1-3), Martin Cassidy (0-3, 1f), Cian Cassidy

Substitutions used:

Cian Murphy, Anthony Kane (0-2), Ryan Crowe, Seán Whelan, David Collum, Eoin Keane

There is still lots of football to be played with a league promotion match against Longford Slashers, the U20 championship, the Patsy Reilly Cup and the Leinster Intermediate club Championship away to the Carlow champions. Keep an eye on the fixtures for when they will be played

Sympathy

The club expresses its’ sincere sympathy to the Murphy and Cawley families on the very sad, untimely passing of Nicola Murphy (née Cawley). We also extend our condolences to the family and friends of Pauline Taite (Fardromin) who passed away recently. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.
