New York Senior Championship: Congratulations to the Longford GAA team in New York on winning the senior championship for the first time in their history courtesy of a 0-12 to 0-11 win over reigning champions Monaghan. This is a fantastic achievement given that they only won the Intermediate championship last year. Well done in particular to our own Darren Farley who captained the side and who had a terrific game at wing half back. It was a special day for one of our great supporters Joe Prunty who has for years been heavily involved with the GAA in New York and who has always helped out anyone from around who has gone stateside. Likewise, the great Des Dillon who is one of the sponsors of the team. Well done once again to all involved.
