Senior Team: On Friday evening last our senior team got their first point of the Division 1 league after a draw away to Granard. The team played exceptionally well and really should have came away with the two points. We were guilty of numerous, squandered missed opportunities to put the game out of sight, however it was still a good performance and there is plenty to build on coming up to championship. SafeTALK Programme: A SafeTALK programme will be delivered in Mullingar on June 22nd in the Springfield Centre, HSE, St. Loman’s Campus, Mullingar. SafeTALK is a 3½ hour ‘suicide alertness’ programme that prepares participants to identify and engage with persons who may be having thoughts of suicide.  Participants also learn how to provide practical help by using the steps of TALK (Tell, Ask, Listen and Keepsafe) and gain information on the supports and resources available locally, regionally and nationally.  Please note that the SafeTALK programme can be delivered upon request to groups within Longford/Westmeath.

GAA Goalkeeping Workshop: Shane McCormack, a former Kildare goalkeeper, is running a Goalkeeping specific workshop for club coaches. The program is designed to develop goalkeepers on all aspects of their game, not only technically and physically but also mentally.

These specifically designed sessions incorporate everything the modern day keeper is required and expected to deliver. From shot stopping to distribution, all aspects are focused on to ensure an all-round player development is achieved. Mentors are then encouraged to take the session content and implement those drills with their goalkeepers for future development. If anyone is interested in further details please contact Lorraine at secretary.frmanninggaels.longford@gaa.ie

Sympathy: The club would like to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Michael Heslin (formerly of the ’98 Bar Ballinamuck) and Mary Rose O’Mara (née Farrell, formerly of Drumlish) who all passed away recently. Solas na bhFlaitheas orthu.
